What would be your own personal choice, of the IKEA styles, for cabinets in the garage? I'd like it to look nice, but thought white would be too boring. I was thinking of a blue and white paint combo in the garage, but nothing is final.
Honestly, this is the place I'd do Arlig white. It's cheap--you can replace any doors that get banged up-but also not delicate so you probably won't be replacing them too often. And garages tend to be dark, so white has its advantages. That said, in some cases I might skip the fronts altogether--simpler to be able to see everything!
Good luck with your project and welcome to the group
Are you thinking PAX or Akurum? I have Akurum in the laundry room, but I'll be doing PAX in the garage. The depth is great and the nice wide 39" cabinets will work great for what we're planning. I will be getting whatever frames are in the as is section the day I go. I want the 14x40drawers so that limits my door selection. Also the doors for the PAX system are mostly solid wood and therefore expensive. Our nexus BB ones we have in our playroom were $100/ea. with the hinges. I'd like PAX Nexus, but will probably do Ballstad white.
Just the kitchen wall cabinets. I'm only putting cabinets on the side walls high enough to not interfere with any cars. But I'm thinking of putting a bunch up, like 6 or 12 of them.
I think maybe white will be good rather than going with something too fancy. The Sorbo Gray would be nice, too. And it's on the cheaper side.

ludes98--did you do you your garage with the Pax, yet? Like you, I am very interested in using them for their overall size but am concerned about their wt bearing capacity. One Pax shelf states the load limit is 121lbs--that's great, but every other capacity noted is 44lbs (both were 39" shelves listed in the interior fitting section of Pax online). An Ikea employee strongly discouraged me from using them in the garage. I am not storing an engine block on a shelf, but would like one that could support the equivalent weight of a bulk purchase of cans of soup. 44lbs is a bit concerning but 121 is a no brainer. Any input is appreciated. I looked at the ankuram, but have a local cabinet guy that could a a similar job with his cabs for only about 10% more. Interested in your thoughts and/or experience with the product. Thanks.
I have not tackled the garage yet because it is still too hot here, 109 on Saturday. We have PAX in our playroom loaded with storage and they have taken some heavy loads. Not cans of soup in bulk mind you, but paint and some unused electronics that are heavy have found there way in there. Phoenix has tons of garage cabinet companies that all use particle board. A few are MDF in the upper price range.
My rationale for using PAX instead is pretty simple. I like the modular design and flexibility to change the arrangement if I so choose. Interior fittings are actually pretty useful in the garage. The plastic divider drawers are great for hardware for example. I get questions about this often and I will be documenting my project once I do it.
I wonder...could any of the PAX fittings work in AKURUM?
Not without redrilling holes at the minimum. The two are just so slightly different - perhaps like a mm.
Then there's the width aspect too ... the Pax system is metric, Akurum is SAE.
